“At the unlikely intersection of Bluegrass, Jazz and Punk lies the Jon Stickley Trio. A true fusion of American music, this virtuosic trio exploded onto the landscape, leaving listeners scratching their heads, wondering what exactly it was they were hearing, and desperate for the next song to begin. For their second record, Lost at Last, JS3 has, like an open-wheel, open cockpit-race car, abandoned anything frivolous or unnecessary, and this stripped-down, streamlined JS3 is built for speed, dangerous as hell, and irresistible.” --Travis Book, The Infamous Stringdusters
Sturgeon City pays homage to the classic voices of bluegrass, folk, jazz and blues traditions, whilst leaving their own indelible mark on each tune that they play. Each member of the band has a unique voice that is expressed within their original music, and interpretations of classic tunes. The sum of their contributions is a synergy not to be missed.
The tasting room opens at 4pm, live music begins at 6pm with Sturgeon City.

The Shape of Sound, presented by Aisthesis Productions, is a drum circle event unlike anything Richmond has seen or heard. This unique live musical performance unites more than 30 accomplished drummers in Richmond’s largest drum circle, with special guest Richard Christy, performing in unison with the self-proclaimed sci-fi-weirdo-electronic 3-piece band Bermuda Triangles at the center. The musical collective will play an original piece by Dave Witte & John Skaritza. This fully original, deconstructed concert is a once in a lifetime opportunity for fans of jazz, rock, metal and electronic music to see and hear a diverse and skilled group of drummers collaborating and making some serious noise.
Who is Aisthesis Productions? Monica and Tim Moehring are the co-founders, currently shooting Last Call, a Twilight Zone-esque tale of the regrets of a once celebrated Richmond bartender. With the support of many of Richmond's breweries, distilleries and meaderies as official sponsors, this project unites Richmond's best creative talent, both in front of and behind the camera, with a fantastic list of RVA's local musicians and comedians in starring roles. Last Call has become a veritable "Who's Who" of Richmond; an example of the incredible things that can happen when worlds collide.
To celebrate this collaboration and to promote the project, Aisthesis is partnering with Hardywood to unleash this incredible and exclusive musical experience. Learn more about the film, share a beer with the filmmakers and cast, and witness the insanity first-hand. Our taproom opens at 12PM. The Shape of Sound performance will begin at 2PM. Hardywood Farmhouse Pumpkin release marks a seasonal shift from the warmth of summer into the cooler evenings and earlier sunsets of fall.
Brewed in the style of the farmhouse ales of Belgium's southern countryside, Hardywood Farmhouse Pumpkin utilizes a blend of rye, wheat and barley in the grain bill, earthy flavoring hops and a classic saison yeast. Ripe, flame-roasted Virginia sugar pumpkins and brown sugar provide this beer with a hearty backbone. Freshly ground ceylon cinnamon, whole Grenada nutmeg, whole Madagascar clove and whole allspice harmonize with pounds of freshly sliced ginger root.

About the Community Hopping Project -- In our home brewing days, a favorite yearly tradition was to invite our friends and neighbors to grow and harvest fresh hops for an autumn brew. Hardywood RVA IPA extends that tradition to our local community. Every spring, Hardywood gives out 1,000 hop rhizomes for interested growers to plant throughout Greater Richmond. With boundless commitment and care (with guidance from our friends at Piedmont Hops, LLC and Huguenot Hops through the Hardywood Community Hopping Project Facebook group) our growers collectively supply over 9 pounds per barrel of beer’s essential spice: hop flowers. Vibrantly floral with notes of citrus, RVA IPA is a showcase of the terroir of RVA and a true representation of our community’s commitment to collaboration.
Enjoy cold drafts and mobile menus from Bonbontruck, Arroz RVA, Sammich, Shamasuki, De Rochonnet Delights Chocolatier, NYStyleFoodRichmond & Slideways Mobile Bistro all day, as well as FREE live music presented through our annual Richmond Bluegrass Festival.

Our taprooms are open for service from 4-9PM! NY Style provides the menu. Join us at 6PM for an evening with Makeda Lewis, creator of Avie's Dreams: An Afro-Feminist Coloring Book!
About the artist: Makeda Lewis is an artist living in Atlanta, GA. Her work explores afro-centricity, gender dynamics, and Black womanhood.
About the book: Part activity book, part surrealist poem, Avie's Dreams takes an interactive and wildly introspective approach to afro-feminist self-discovery and girlhood. A young dreamer wanders through a personal mythology of women warriors, tropical flowers, and sea creatures. A radically introspective and interpersonal take on the usual coming-of-age tale, Avie firmly establishes her authorial role—and infuses ancient Greek lore, Renaissance scripts, and Hollywood blockbusters with images of afro-centricity and queer identity.
Despite the continued popularity of adult coloring books, few actually incorporate adult literary themes into their pages. Avie's Dreams is beautifully illustrated, but also tells a complex and challenging narrative of race, gender and sexuality, and body image. Interspersed with lyrics and quotes taken from contemporary Internet culture and modern poetry, the story investigates the trials and magic of a young black girl growing up in the world.
Draft service is available at 4PM, with live music beginning at 6PM! Stay tuned for our food truck selection and additional details!
