It’s the return of the River City Barn Dance to Hardywood! Bands, jamming, and dancing – good fun to be had in the Barrel Room. Things kick off with a big ol’ bluegrass jam, open to anyone who wants to join in (4:00-6:00). Bring your instrument or just grab a pint and listen to the tunes. Toes will be tapping. When the jam wraps up, Hogweed will take the stage (6:00-7:00), bringing you their home-grown brand of authentic old-time stringband music. Then it’s time to dance (7:00-9:30), with the Richmond Rounders providing the tunes and Hannah Johnson calling the dances!

This is not your 5th grade gym class. This is high-energy, mountain square dancing open to experts and newbies alike! There is square dance revival happening around the country, and this one’s at your own local brewery, brought to you by RVA Square Dance (check ’em out on Facebook). Anyone can participate. The dance caller will guide you through each dance, step by step. No experience or partner necessary. Flannel shirts, cowboy hats, and fancy shoes not required. Just come as you are, see what’s on-tap in the Barrel Room, and join in the festivity!
