We provide all the planting supplies: a glass sloped container, soil, 3 plants, rocks, decorative elements, smock, music, and a good time.

Come out early to enjoy happy hour before we get started, just let them know you’re with Plant Nite. Secure your seats 15 - 30 minutes prior to start time, especially if part of a large group. If you’re a fan of festive craft beer, delightful desserts turned into architectural masterpieces and a jolly good time, ‘yule’ love this event!

The inaugural Hardywood Gingerbread House Challenge dares local businesses, nonprofits, student groups, artists, neighbors and mall Santas to form teams and literally display their holiday spirit and creativity by constructing a gingerbread house centered around the 2017 theme: “Holidays in RVA”

Thanks to the goodwill of Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, this exciting event coincides with the release of their popular Gingerbread Stout (which BeerAdvocate calls “freagin’ Christmas in a bottle.”)

Hosted by BHCyp, the young professionals board of the Better Housing Coalition, event attendees will vote on their favorite houses, and a celebrity judging panel will crown the $1,000 Grand Prize Winner! Houses will be up for auction, and 100% of proceeds will support BHC’s mission of changing lives and transforming communities through high-quality affordable housing.

New Release: Hardywood Hoax!

Let's get started with the good news: Introducing Hardywood Hoax!

Hardywood Hoax is our base imperial milk stout, Cassowary, aged in brandy barrels for 10 months (these barrels housed traditional grape brandy). Hoax is another behemoth of a beer, joining its fellow crafty misfits, Trickery, Foolery & Ruse at 13.5% ABV, yet remaining unbelievably smooth. Expect a super chewy milk stout with bold oak tannins and notes of grape jam, ripe plums and dried dates. Quantities and bottle limits are TBD. Mark your calendars for October 28 and stay tuned for updates!

But wait, is this a trick? Where's Trickery?

Unfortunately, there will be no Trickery in 2017. There isn't a whole lot of apple brandy produced here in the states, making it difficult to source apple brandy barrels. When the time came to get Trickery into barrels, there were no apple brandy barrels to be found. We couldn't dream of depriving your tastebuds of this anticipated Fall release entirely, so we brought in as many brandy barrels as we could find (a grand total of 4 brandy barrels!) and we're excited to continue our playful approach to this series.

But wait, there's MORE GOOD NEWS!

Ultimately, we were able to get our hands on a limited number of apple brandy barrels in time to put them right to work. We are thrilled to re-introduce Apple Brandy GBS to our lineup of seasonal GBS variants this year! More details about Apple Brandy GBS will be coming at you soon, along with exciting information about our entire Gingerbread Stout season!

"In-depth conversations about the world and our place within await around every corner, in DC at least. Oftentimes these weighty discussions end at an impasse, each side so confident in the rightness of their held position that there is no change. Every once in a while, however, a new perspective on an old belief is born not through entrenched rhetoric, but candid questions. We’ve all heard it, maybe you even said it yourself: “hm, that’s a good question.” Paperhaus don’t have the answers, hell, they’re still looking for the right questions. And that sense of seeking propels their new record—Are These The Questions We Need To Ask?, out Fall 2017 on Pittsburgh’s Misra Records (Destroyer, Phosphorescent, Great Lake Swimmers)—forward, while much of the world is left looking at the past.

Founded in 2006 by Alex Tebeleff (Black Lodge) along with childhood friends Eddie Rivers and Jeff Galfond, and fleshed out by various collaborators over the years—on ATTQWNTA?, Tebeleff has continued the project and is joined by new writing partners Matt Dowling (Deleted Scenes, The Effects, Joy Buttons) and Rick Irby (Den-Mate, Wanted Man, Jau Ocean)—Paperhaus functions as both a band and a creative collective, the latter in the form of their famed house venue (infamously featured on the pilot of HGTV’s DC Flippers). After a tense election season and the loss of a central collaborator to the sun of Los Angeles, Tebeleff felt it was time to change up the project's approach. A steady diet of modular synthesizers, community organizing and collaborative experimentation with aforementioned players emboldened his resolve to ride Paperhaus to its inevitable next stage.

And here we are: now. ATTQWNTA? marks a turning point for Paperhaus. Through a wide palate of psych, kraut, classic pop and noise Paperhaus rips through eight exciting new tracks, each paying service to the album’s whole. The current ensemble shines most on new songs like “Told You What To Say,” “Go Cozy,” and “Walk Through The Woods,” where some of the band’s heaviest guitars mix with a potent, mechanical rhythm section and Tebeleff’s Moog Sub 37, on which many of these compositions were first conceived. The lyrics—penned by Tebeleff and Dowling—reflect the band’s newly matured worldview, infusing their long-held commitment to community with a sense of wide-eyed awe. Settling into a series of studios over the last two years, the final recorded product was expertly engineered & mixed by Peter Larkin of The Lighthouse Recording Studio in Alexandria, VA. All things considered, ATTQWNTA? shows a new band ready to lead their peers out onto the next branch. They haven’t forgotten where they came from, but instead, they’re forging ahead, despite the anxiety of the unknown."

Minor Poet

Minor Poet is a new indie rock band out of Richmond, VA. Inspired by the harmonies and sounds of classic 60’s groups the Beach Boys and the Zombies, as well as the lo-fi auteurism of artists like the Magnetic Fields and Yo La Tengo, songwriter Andrew Carter holed up in his basement for two months and played every instrument on Minor Poet’s forthcoming debut album. The resulting songs feel neither modern nor nostalgic, but rather exist in their own little world. The lyrics weave in and out of pondering existential crises and fixating on everyday mundanities, referencing Samuel Beckett, Jacques Lacan, Neil Young, Sudoku, and everything in between, ultimately shrugging at the silliness of taking it all too seriously. A stellar cast of Richmond musicians bring the songs to life, including Noma Illmensee (Manatree, Egghunt Records), Jeremy Morris (the Mad Extras) and Micah Head.

45-minute workouts from 11:15am-12pm will provide enough fun, team-oriented activity to be able to enjoy a Hardywood beer (or two) at noon....guilt free!!

Please arrive 5 minutes early as a courtesy to your teammates!

SEAL Team Physical Training has been providing fun, team-based outdoor boot camp classes for almost 20 years to people of all fitness levels! Whether you’re brand new to fitness or you are an elite athlete, you’ll fit in at SEAL Team PT, where we can do more as a team. Our workouts are respectful and we encourage participants to go at their own pace. No one gets left behind. Each workout is a different adventure. You may have a team of 10 for push ups, a team of 6 for dips, a rope for tug-of-war, or have to high-five your buddies to win a race! Show up with a great attitude and be ready to have fun and meet new people, then drink some of Virginia's best beer from Hardywood Park Brewery! We’ll see you at the next workout!
