Our 2024 Trickery is an Imperial Milk Stout aged in Laird’s Apple Brandy Barrels, crafted from a blend of three unique vintages—2022, 2021, and 2020. Each vintage, making up 33% of the blend, brings depth and complexity to this decadent stout. One-third of the blend is ‘Cassowary Thiccq,’ an ultra-high gravity stout, which lends rich, bold character. This Cassowary Thiccq was matured over 58 months in the barrel making it one of the oldest delicacies in our archive. The two other vintage Cassowary components were not too far behind in age, 34 and 42 months.
On the nose, Trickery entices with layers of umami, toffee, molasses, and dark chocolate. At the same time, the palate reveals flavors of candied apple, cherry, and more umami, all enveloped in a velvety texture. The finish is rich, silky, and warming, making it the perfect sipper for the colder months. This isn’t a beer for the faint of heart—its complex, layered nuances are best savored slowly.
